UFO files: Midlands couple tracked by UFO on 40 mile journey

A couple driving from Matlock to Stoke-on-Trent reported being tracked along much of their journey by a “shape-changing” UFO craft - or a series of them

 

A man and his partner were travelling along the A50 when they spotted the object about 15 minutes into their journey.

The man noticed a “very bright light in the sky” which he said moved too slowly to be an aeroplane and at very low altitudes.

He said it had a small blinking light beneath it and flew over Carsington water at a height of around 100ft, before vanishing.

The incident happened on November 1, 2009 and was later reported to the Ministry of Defence’s UFO Desk. In his account - which has just been released by the National Archives, the man told officials that at this stage of his experience he "felt slightly unnerved.”

The couple drove on, but when they reached a roundabout in Uttoxeter with a McDonalds restaurant on it, they spotted a “very large red light”, around two miles away, low in the sky near the town’s racecourse.

The man’s partner, who he said was more sceptical on the subject of UFO’s than him, declined his request to follow the object and they headed towards their destination.
But as they approached Stoke on the A50, near the city’s Britannia football stadium, they again saw the suspicious lights - which were now “very bright white”.
By now, the man said his partner was “spooked” too.
When they saw the object again, near another roundabout, they reported “a white light with two smaller white lights on either side of it. As though on stalks or like spotlights.”
They continued to watch it as they drove along the A34, when it changed colour, from white to emerald green. The two “sidelights” disappeared.
Once the couple had got home, the man went out in the car again to look for the object, but without success.
He reported the incident to police, who he says told him the force helicopter had not been in the area at the time.
