A retired Florida police officer near Orlando-Sanford International Airport reports watching a "large, copper-colored orb" that crossed the sky silently at an altitude of between 400 and 600 feet and made an S-turn, according to January 2, 2012, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness stepped outside and noticed the object right away while two common aircraft also crossed the sky.

"It was a large, orb-like object, bright copper/bronze color, traveling north/northeast from the northern area of the St. John's River branch west of I-4 causeway," the witness stated. "It ran totally silent, in acute contrast to the aforementioned aircraft in the area. It did not blink, pulse, or otherwise display any color variation whatsoever. It appeared larger (about the size of 2-3 common police helicopters, but without the distinct engine noise of same) as it proceeded closer to my point of observation."

The object made two distinct moves in the sky.

"As it continued its path, the object made a left 30 degree arcing turn followed by a 60 degree arc to the right (an 's' configuration if you will). It proceeded in a southeasterly direction and faded out of sight. The object maintained a constant altitude of approximately 400 to 600 feet."

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on January 2, 2012. The events occurred on January 1, 2012. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

Florida is a current UFO ALERT 3 rating, with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. Florida had 39 reports in December, the 4th highest reporting state - while California had 63 reports in December 2011 - the highest reporting state in the nation.
